CAIRO, June 23 (MENA) - President Abdel Fattah El Sisi affirmed that there is no alternative to reforming and developing the United Nations to keep pace with current transitions worldwide.

He stressed that reforms must uphold international law and avoid double standards.

In a recorded speech on Monday to mark the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations, president Sisi announced Egypt’s launch of a new headquarters for UN regional and country offices in the New Administrative Capital (NAC).

He reaffirmed Egypt’s steadfast commitment to supporting the UN and strengthening its role across various fields.

In his address, president Sisi discussed ways to enhance the UN's role and boost its ability to confront the major international challenges of today.

He said Egypt is one of the largest contributors to UN peacekeeping efforts.

He continued today's celebration comes at a pivotal time when global power balances are being reshaped and the international community faces unprecedented challenges.

President Sisi praised the efforts of the UN secretary general to reform the organization and reiterated Egypt's belief in the UN's central role in achieving sustainable development, promoting human rights, and coordinating global efforts to tackle pressing challenges—most notably climate change and water scarcity.
