CAIRO, June 22 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty and Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar expressed deep concern over the ongoing developments in the region.
This came during a meeting of the two foreign ministers on Sunday, on the sidelines of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Foreign Ministers Council meeting in Istanbul, Turkey, according to a press release.
During the meeting, Abdelatty praised remarkable development in bilateral relations, reflected in the increased number of high-level meetings in recent months.
He hailed the ongoing cooperation and coordination between Egypt and Pakistan within regional and international organizations as well as the identical views shared by both countries regarding key international issues.
They exchanged points of view regarding the alarming developments in the region, particularly the military escalation between Israel and Iran.
Both sides voiced deep concern over these developments, stressing that the continuation of such a situation would further heighten tension and instability in the region.
Meanwhile, Abdelatty emphasized the need to halt military escalation and contain the situation through the activation of political and diplomatic channels meant to prevent the region from sliding into a cycle of violence and unrest.
Abdelatty and Ishaq Dar underscored the importance of maintaining coordination and consultation throughout the coming period to ensure an effective response to current challenges and to enhance opportunities for de-escalation. (MENA)
