CAIRO, May 6 (MENA) - The Arab League (AL) stressed Tuesday importance of coordinating joint action in the Intellectual Property (IP) field.
The pan-Arab body also called for strengthening capabilities and exchanging experiences between Arab countries in the IP domain, in light of successive global developments in this respect.
In a word delivered on the occasion of the AL Intellectual Property and Competitiveness Unit celebration of the World Intellectual Property Day,
Director of the AL 's Intellectual Property and Competitiveness Unit Maha Bakhit said, “Since 2006, the AL has been organizing this celebration annually and it is an opportunity to exchange visions, ideas and experiences between Arab countries and experts and researchers interested in the field of IP rights protection.”
This year's celebration is held at the headquarters of the AL's General Secretariat in Cairo under the theme: “IP and music: Feel the beat of IP”.
The ceremony is distinguished by establishing a link between musical creativity and law, especially in light of the challenges facing the world in the field of intellectual property in the era of digital transformation, the use of artificial intelligence and the spread of broadcast platforms, according to the official.
The event features a number of sessions discussing key topics, most notably challenges facing artistic rights, strategic visions devised to support musical creativity and the future of music in the digital age, along with reviewing exemplary models from a number of Arab countries in the field of copyright protection and related rights.
Government officials from IP offices in Arab countries, a number of legal experts, in addition to researchers and musicians interested in the field of intellectual property are taking part in the event. (MENA)
