CAIRO, May 5 (MENA) - The Arab League (AL) Intellectual Property and Competitiveness Unit will celebrate Tuesday World Intellectual Property Day.
This year's celebration will be held at the headquarters of the AL's General Secretariat in Cairo under the theme: “IP and music: Feel the beat of IP”.
Director of the AL 's Intellectual Property and Competitiveness Unit Maha Bakhit said, the slogan of this year’s celebration aims to focus on protecting intellectual property rights as an incentive for creativity and innovation, especially in the music sector, as copyright and related rights are among the most important pillars enabling artists to achieve revenue from their work, encouraging them to innovate and confront piracy and illegal exploitation.
This ceremony is distinguished by establishing a link between musical creativity and law, especially in light of the challenges facing the world in the field of intellectual property in the era of digital transformation, the use of artificial intelligence and the spread of broadcast platforms, according to the official.
The festivity will feature a number of sessions discussing key topics, most notably challenges facing artistic rights, strategic visions devised to support musical creativity and the future of music in the digital age, along with reviewing exemplary models from a number of Arab countries in the field of copyright protection and related rights.
Government officials from intellectual property offices in Arab countries, a number of legal experts, in addition to researchers and musicians interested in the field of intellectual property will take part in the event. (MENA)
