CAIRO, Aug 8 (MENA) - President Abdel Fattah El Sisi Thursday congratulated United Kingdom Prime Minister Keir Starmer on the formation of the new government, expressing Egypt's aspiration for more joint steps between the two countries to enhance cooperation, especially in the economic and investment fields and increase the volume of trade exchange.

During a phone call held by President Sisi, the two sides tackled international and regional developments as the Egyptian leader explained Egypt's vision on ways to restore security and stability in the Middle East which is going through a dangerous phase of continuous escalation.

President Sisi reviewed Egypt's efforts to end the war in the Gaza Strip and exchange detainees, stressing the priority of delivering humanitarian aid to the people of the Gaza Strip and alleviating their suffering, and pushing for a political path based on the two-state solution.

The Presidency Spokesman said the British prime minister appreciated the Egyptian role and stressed keenness to continue intensive coordination with Egypt, within the framework of joint efforts to ensure security and stability in the region, and overcome the delicate phase the Middle East is going through.(MENA)
