CAIRO, June 3 (MENA) - Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates Minister Badr Abdelatty praised the historical ties between Egypt and Benin.

This came during a joint press conference on Tuesday with Benin's Foreign Minister Olushegun Adjadi, currently visiting Egypt.

Abdelatty said their talks tackled means of furthering bilateral relations which have been established since the 1960s, noting that Egypt was at the forefront of countries that recognized Benin's independence.

He underlined the depth of bilateral ties and interest in strengthening them, especially in the economic and investment domains, in addition to promoting political consultations between both sides.

Abdelatty said he agreed with Adjadi on re-activating the political consultation mechanism under an agreement which was inked by both countries in 2000.

He noted that the talks tackled the great potentials of the two countries, especially since Benin has succeeded in achieving a lot in terms of economic growth as well as Egypt's achievements under the modernization program led by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, especially in the field of infrastructure.
