CAIRO, June 22 (MENA) - Minister of Culture Ahmed Fouad Hanno received Sunday world-renowned heart surgeon Sir Dr. Magdi Yacoub, ahead of celebration organized by the ministry to honor the unparalleled heart surgeon and unveil the details of the "Doctor of Hearts" Statue.

The Statue designed by Egyptian sculptor Essam Darwish to pay tribute to Yacoub’s exceptional contributions in the fields of medicine and humanitarian work.

The minister voiced pride and honor in organizing this event, reflecting the State's appreciation for its citizens who have put the nation's name on international platforms. Hanno said culture and arts play vital role in commemorating figures of scientific and humanitarian impact and in preserving their legacy in the collective memory of society.

Erecting a statue to honor this unique legacy is part of an initiative with profound cultural, artistic and national dimensions, he added. The statue stands as a symbol of loyalty and gratitude, expressing appreciation for a remarkable medical journey in which Sir Magdi Yacoub presented an inspiring model of compassion, dedication and integrity, said the minister.
