The Baghdad Declaration firmly reaffirmed the consistent rejection of any form of forced displacement or deportation of the Palestinian people from their land under any name, circumstance, or justification, describing it as a flagrant violation of international law and a crime against humanity tantamount to ethnic cleansing.

The declaration strongly condemned Israel's policies of starvation and scorched-earth tactics used to pressure the Palestinian people into abandoning their land.

The leaders reiterated their commitment to a just and comprehensive peaceful resolution to the Palestinian issue and expressed support for President Mahmoud Abbas's call to convene an international peace conference and to take irreversible steps toward implementing the two-state solution under the Arab Peace Initiative and international legitimacy resolutions.

They stressed that the desired solution must ensure the establishment of an independent, sovereign Palestinian state based on the June 4, 1967, borders with East Jerusalem as its capital and the granting of full UN membership. This must include restoring all legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, particularly the right of return and self-determination.

The leaders called for the deployment of UN peacekeeping forces in the occupied Palestinian territories until the two-state solution is implemented and urged the UN Security Council to take clear measures within its mandate to maintain international peace and security, setting a binding timeframe for the political process.

The leaders urged all Palestinian factions to agree on a unified national project and strategic vision that channels national efforts toward achieving the Palestinian people's aspirations and establishing their independent state. They also reaffirmed their support for the legitimate Palestinian government in this regard.

The leaders demanded that the international community enforce UN Security Council resolutions since the beginning of the Israeli aggression on Gaza in October 2023, particularly Resolution 2720.

They called for immediate compliance with all international legal obligations and decisive action to end Israeli occupation of all Arab territories, including the Syrian Golan Heights and southern Lebanon, and the implementation of relevant Security Council resolutions without delay.

They welcomed the UN General Assembly’s May 10, 2024, resolution supporting Palestine’s application for full UN membership, which was backed by 143 countries.

They urged the UN Security Council to reconsider its decision made on April 18, 2024, in a way that supports the Palestinian people's right to life, freedom, and dignity.

The leaders also called on the international community, especially the Security Council, to implement its resolutions related to the Palestinian cause and occupied Arab territories without delay or selectivity. (MORE)
