CAIRO, July 28 (MENA) - The Egyptian Company for Mining, Management and Exploitation of Quarries and Saltworks won the world geographic information system (GIS) award and ranked 1st globally in the quarries automation sector.

Egypt won the award during the international annual Esri User Conference held in the US on the GIS application.

Addressing the gathering, Chairman of the Egyptian Company for Mining, Management and Exploitation of Quarries and Saltworks Abdel Salam Ahmed Shafiq, conveyed greetings of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defense and Military Production Mohamed Zaki and Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces Lieutenant-General Osama Askar to the gathering.

Shafiq highlighted the vital role of the National Service Projects Authority (NSPA) in support of Egyptian firms and helping them acquire international awards.

He extended his thanks to the Egyptian Armed Forces for all arduous efforts in support of Egyptian companies to enable them realize sustainable development objectives.

Some 75,000 of the Esri collaborative user community of forward-thinking and GIS professionals are taking part in the conference.

The event is organized by the Environmental Systems Research Institute ESRI Inc. on GIS technology mapping images of locations, quantities, densities, and specific areas.

The Egyptian Company for Mining, Management and Exploitation of Quarries and Saltworks is an affiliate of the Central Administration for Mining and Quarries at the Egyptian Mineral Resources Authority (EMRA). (MENA)
