CAIRO, July 14 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration Badr Abdelatty held a meeting with representatives of leading private sector companies and members of the Chamber of Commerce in Malabo, at the Egyptian embassy, on the sidelines of his participation in the 47th ordinary session of the African Union Executive Council.

The meeting was attended by members of Equatorial Guinea’s business community, along with representatives of leading companies operating in the fields of infrastructure, energy, mining, agriculture, and logistics, as well as investors expressing interest in the Egyptian market.

The minister reviewed Egypt’s recent key achievements, including monetary reform, the adoption of a flexible exchange rate regime, the enactment of the new investment law, and the streamlining of procedures for obtaining licenses to establish companies and industrial facilities.

He also highlighted the significant progress achieved in the areas of social housing, infrastructure development, and national road projects. The discussions also focused on prospects for investment and trade cooperation between Egypt and Equatorial Guinea.

He further underlined Egypt’s favorable investment climate, legislative framework, and the extensive range of major national projects currently underway in multiple sectors, factors that together present promising opportunities for strategic partnership with Equatorial Guinea.

During the meeting, it was agreed to organize a joint business forum in the near future, bringing together companies and business leaders from both countries, in coordination with the General Union of Chambers of Commerce in Malabo.

The forum is intended to establish direct channels of communication between the two business communities, explore opportunities for joint investment, and promote increased bilateral trade.

Abdelatty expressed Egypt’s readiness to offer technical expertise and support in infrastructure, electricity, irrigation, and technical education through Egyptian companies with extensive experience in executing large-scale projects in multiple African countries.(MENA)
