CAIRO, May 19 (MENA) - The Cabinet's media center on Monday posted a video on social media in which it denied claims that high percentages of the country's poultry population died due to new disease outbreaks.
The center said no viral diseases were detected among the poultry stock. It also refuted reports of high cases of mortality among the poultry due to vaccine shortages or outbreaks.
The mortality rates are internationally recognized as standard, it said.
The General Authority for Veterinary Services, through its directorates in various governorates, continues to support the poultry production sector, the center said.
Efforts include routine vaccination campaigns, active disease surveillance, and ongoing inspections of farms and markets, it added.
It warned that such reports are meant to disrupt public order and trigger discontent, the statement said.
It urged all citizens not to be deceived by such reports and to immediately contact the center if they have any query.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation had confirmed the stability of the poultry industry in Egypt, noting that the sector is under continuous supervision.
This monitoring is conducted by the General Authority for Veterinary Services and the Livestock and Poultry Development Sector, ensuring the health and safety of poultry flocks across the nation, the Cabinet’s media center said, asserting that no mortality cases have been reported among poultry, and all necessary vaccines are readily available through the Veterinary Serum and Vaccine Research Institute and veterinary units throughout the country.
Head of the General Authority for Veterinary Services Dr. Hamed el-Aqnas stated in an official press release that the poultry sector is reassuringly stable. He emphasized the availability of all necessary vaccines and the absence of any shortages.
According to him, ongoing epidemiological surveillance is being carried out by trained veterinary professionals, who regularly monitor farms, engage with poultry breeders, and provide technical support and guidance. He emphasized that “no cases of mortality due to vaccine shortages or disease outbreaks have been reported by any surveillance teams.” (MENA)
