BAGHDAD, May 15 (MENA) - The preparatory meeting of the Arab League (AL) Council of Foreign Ministers began Thursday as part of preparations for the 34th session of the Arab Summit.
Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fouad Hussein presided over the meeting, with participation of AL Secretary-General Ahmed Abul Gheit.
Egypt’s delegation to is led by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty.
Key points figuring high on the draft agenda of the 34th regular session include eight main topics covering the various aspects of joint Arab action, most notably the Palestinian cause, the Arab-Israeli conflict, as well as Arab national security and counterterrorism.
The preparatory phase is crucial to ensuring coordination, political alignment among member states and setting the stage for a successful summit advancing Arab unity and cooperation. (MENA)
