CAIRO, May 14 (MENA) - Stations of the National Seismic Network, affiliated with the National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics (NRIAG), recorded an earthquake at 1:51:15 AM on Wednesday.

The tremor measured 6.4 on the Richter scale and occurred at a distance of 631 kilometers north of Rashid, or Rosetta, which is a port city of the Nile Delta, 65 km (40 mi) east of Alexandria, in Egypt's Beheira governorate.

NRIAG acting president Dr. Taha Tawfiq Rabeh stated in an official press release that the Institute had received reports indicating that citizens felt the tremor. However, no casualties or damage to property were reported.

He further noted that the earthquake occurred at a latitude of 35.12 degrees north, a longitude of 27 degrees east, and at a depth of 76 kilometers.
