KAZAN, Oct 21 (MENA) - The 16th annual 2024 BRICS summit will kick off in Kazan, Russia tomorrow, Tuesday, with the participation of nearly 24 heads of state of governments.
Scheduled for October 22–24 under the chairmanship of Russia, this year's edition is themed Strengthening Multilateralism for Just Global Development and Security.
A reception and lunch ceremony will be held for the leaders, governments and officials of the countries participating in the Summit during the first day; while the second day will feature an expanded meeting of BRICS leaders, and an official meeting for heads of participating delegations.
The third day will feature two working sessions for BRICS leaders and heads of participating delegations. Finally, Russian President Vladimir Putin will hold a press conference at the conclusion of the summit.
UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, Chinese leader Xi Jinping, Brazilian President Luis Inacio Lula da Silva and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan are scheduled to join the event.
The BRICS bloc includes: Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia and the UAE. (MENA)
