CAIRO, July 9 (MENA) - Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly emphasized on Wednesday the significance of laws and amendments recently passed by the House of Representatives, given the importance and sensitivity of the sectors they regulate.
Addressing the issue of the old rent law, he affirmed that the government is keen to develop a clear vision that provides multiple alternatives for tenants, noting he would hold a meeting later today to review proposals to ensure fair options are available.
Addressing the weekly cabinet meeting, Madbouly reviewed the intensive recent activities of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, who received numerous phone calls and held meetings with world leaders and officials to discuss issues of mutual concern at the regional and global levels, as well as ways to bolster bilateral ties and strengthen cooperation in priority areas.
Madbouly also referred to his visit earlier Wednesday to Ramses Central to follow up on measures being taken on the ground to address the aftermath of the building’s fire incident and to check on the progress in restoring affected services.
He highlighted Sisi’s directives to form a specialized committee to determine the causes of the Ramses Central fire, stressing the need to swiftly complete all work to restore services to normal levels and quality.
The premier also praised the civil defense and ambulance teams for their tireless efforts to extinguish the fire and handle the emergency.
Separately, Madbouly expressed appreciation to the House of Representatives for approving government-submitted bills, including amendments to laws on old rents, education, and sports.
He confirmed that the government has approved the various amendments proposed by MPs during parliamentary debates.
The premier also touched on the outcomes of his participation on behalf of President Sisi in the 4th UN Conference on Financing for Development in Seville, Spain, as well as the 17th BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, held under the theme “Strengthening Global South Cooperation for Inclusive and Sustainable Governance.”
He noted the series of meetings and engagements held on the sidelines of these events with world officials and institutions, which contribute to enhancing Egypt’s regional and global role and advancing cooperation and bilateral relations in various areas of mutual interest. (MENA)
