CAIRO, June 2 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty said his talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi tackled bilateral ties and important regional issues.

Speaking at a joint press conference with Araghchi in Cairo on Monday, Abdelatty said the top Iranian diplomat met with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, who conveyed his greetings to Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.

The foreign minister stated that the talks between President Sisi and Araghchi reviewed the significant progress in Egyptian-Iranian relations, especially in light of previous meetings held in Cairo and in Russia's Kazan between the two countries' leaders.

Abdelatty noted that Sisi-Araghchi talks addressed important regional issues of mutual concern, notably the issue of regional security and stability, as well as the Palestinian issue.

The top Egyptian diplomat added that Iran's nuclear program was present in the talks, where President Sisi stressed Egypt's keenness to avert regional escalation and prevent the region from descending into instability and chaos.

Abdelatty indicated that President Sisi also met with International Atomic Energy Agency Director General Rafael Grossi, as they discussed the Iranian nuclear program. (MORE)
