CAIRO, May 7 (MENA) – Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli stressed that the government does not take sides when it comes to the recent amendments to the decades-old rentals law.

The government is not biased in favor of one party at the interest of another, the premier said during a news conference following the cabinet weekly meeting on Wednesday.

He noted that this intricate issue was examined based on a Supreme Constitutional Court's ruling that the fixed rent provisions of the 1981 law are unconstitutional.

The government tried as much as possible to create a framework that strikes a balance between protecting public and private property, without prejudice to tenants' social needs, Madbouli pointed out during the news briefing.

Highlighting the government's efforts to lure foreign direct investments (FDIs), Madbouli said an Egyptian-US economic forum will be organized by the end of this month, with the participation of CEOs of some of the top companies in the US.

The forum seeks to promote investment opportunities in Egypt and showcase the advantages the country offers to investors with a view to maximizing Egypt's economic capabilities and support investment-led growth, Madbouli noted. (MENA)
