NEW ALAMEIN, July 16 (MENA) - Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli affirmed that the state is keen on creating a stable life for Egyptian farmers, helping them reach their full economic potential, and ensuring that they get fair prices for their crops.

Addressing a news conference at the Cabinet's premises in New Alamein on Wednesday, Madbouli added that the state is working on expanding agricultural reclamation projects in line with presidential directives to complete the New Delta projects within the next two years, and reclaim hundreds of thousands of feddans to increase the area of cultivated in Egypt.

He stressed the need to get clear picture of the quantities of beet crops in demand to avoid any crises that might arise due to producing excessive quantities that exceed the needs of factories.

Madbouli said the minister of agriculture was tasked with coordinating with the Mostaqbal Misr Authority to consider new land areas that will be cultivated over the next two years.

He added that the government does not force farmers to grow a specific type of crop, but guides them to grow the crops in demand.

Mabdouli also emphasized the need to draw up an agricultural policy, and ensure that some provinces are dedicated to specific types of crops to avoid overcultivation of some crops, a move that could harm farmers or lead to scarcity of certain crops. (MENA)
