CAIRO, June 13 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty held separate phone calls on Friday with Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and Foreign Minister of Iran Abbas Araghchi.
The discussions focused on the escalating situation in the region following Israel’s military strikes on multiple sites inside Iranian territory earlier today.
During both calls, the ministers exchanged views and assessments on the dangerous implications of Israel’s unjustified and irresponsible escalation, emphasizing its potential threat to regional security and stability.
In his conversation with the Iranian foreign minister, Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s rejection and condemnation of any violation of national sovereignty or territorial integrity.
He stressed the urgent need to de-escalate tensions and prevent the region from sliding into broader chaos and conflict.
Separately, Abdelatty’s call with his Qatari counterpart also addressed the ongoing joint efforts by Egypt, Qatar, and the United States to secure a ceasefire in Gaza, facilitate the release of hostages and detainees, and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid amid the worsening conditions in the enclave.
