CAIRO, June 12 (MENA) – President Abdel Fattah El Sisi held on Thursday a phone call with newly elected German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, congratulating him on his election win.

Sisi wished the new German government success, stressing the importance of enhancing cooperation amid regional and global instability.

The two leaders confirmed their intention to strengthen economic, trade, and development ties.

During the talks, Sisi briefed Merz on efforts to stop the war in Gaza and deliver humanitarian aid.

He also rejected any plans to remove Palestinians from their land and called for broader recognition of a Palestinian state based on the two-state solution.

For his part, Merz reaffirmed Germany’s commitment to fostering close relations with Egypt.

The conversation also addressed conflicts in Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Sudan, and Somalia. Merz affirmed Germany’s interest in ongoing coordination with Egypt to help restore regional peace and stability. (MENA)
