CAIRO, May 22 (MENA) - President Abdel Fattah El Sisi praised on Thursday the positive British stance towards the Palestinian issue and the developments in the Gaza Strip.
President Sisi made the remarks in a phone call with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
Presidential spokesman Mohamed el Shennawi said the contact tackled ways of promoting bilateral cooperation with Sisi and Starmer expounding trade, economic and investment relations and expressing desire to explore new horizons of cooperation.
They reiterated keenness on maintaining political consultations to achieve their countries' joint interests.
The contact also tackled regional developments as Starmer was briefed by Sisi on the situation in the Gaza Strip in light of efforts exerted by Egypt in cooperation with Qatar and the US to cease fire and deliver humanitarian assistance.
Sisi reiterated Egypt's categorical rejection of displacing Palestinians from their land and liquidating the Palestinian issue.
The contact underlined the importance of rallying international support for the Arab-Islamic plan for the reconstruction of Gaza.
Sisi and Starmer agreed to maintain coordination towards regional and international developments, the spokesman said. (MENA)
