CAIRO, May 18 (MENA) – Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates, Badr Abdelatty, called for the prompt release of the second €4 billion tranche of EU financial support to Egypt.
These remarks came during the minister's meeting with EU Commissioner for International Partnerships, Jutta Urpilainen, in Cairo.
During the talks, they discussed cooperation in renewable energy, health, port and railway upgrades, and electricity interconnection.
For his part, the top diplomat welcomed ongoing efforts to advance Egypt-EU strategic relations, particularly in the economic field.
Abdelatty also stressed the importance of African involvement in EU-led projects and called for more support to small businesses and private sector actors across the continent.
He suggested launching a triangular cooperation model involving Egypt, the EU, and a third African country, particularly in health and agriculture.
Additionally, he referred to the strategic corridors adopted at the 2022 EU-Africa Summit and reaffirmed Egypt’s development work across the continent, particularly through the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development. (MENA)
