CAIRO, May 5 (MENA) - Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli asserted the state is implementing an action plan aimed at doubling the numbers of tourists.

The state is now seeking to adopt measures to improve services offered to tourists coming to Egypt from different countries, he added at a meeting to review steps to ease travel procedures of tourists via airports and all other entry and exit points in the country on Monday.

The country is developing Egypt e-Visa Portal and upgrading the infrastructure and facilities in different airports, the premier further mentioned.

The meeting, which was attended by some ministers and senior state officials, discussed the proposed system of electronic visas through an action mechanism that enables tourists to obtain their visas upon arrival at airports following very simple and easy measures through the e-platform or Mobile application or self-service points, said Official Spokesman for the Cabinet Mohamed el Homsani.

Cairo International Airport will see the pilot launch of the system, whose first phase will be implemented in seven other airports. The second phase will include 14 airports nationwide. (MENA)
