SAINT CATHERINE, Egypt, Sept 21 (MENA) - Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli inspected during a tour Thursday projects to develop Wadi Al-Arbaeen and the City Heritage Center in Saint Catherine, in South Sinai Governorate.
The prime minister was posted on a provisioned scheme for developing the area, including upgrading the main pedestrian path of Wadi Al-Arbaeen Trail starting from the Visitors Center to the City Center, as well as preparing rainfall spillways to protect the city against any accumulation of water in case of heavy rain.
Wadi Al-Arbaeen Trail is a key luring tourist eco valley.
The route begins in the spring-fed wadi (valley) behind St. Catherine Village, passing the Monastery of Forty Martyrs (Deir Arbain) and the large boulder known as the Rock of Moses where, according to local tradition, Moses struck with his staff to produce water, as pedestrians traverse a narrow, stony-underfoot track, scattered with early Christian hermit cells, up the neighboring slope of Gebel Safsafa until it connects with the final switchback of the Camel Trail.
Madbouli also inspected renovation work of the City Heritage Center and got acquainted with efforts meant to flourish the city economically, through opening public service centers and trade markets that all commensurate with the overall development plan to rejuvenate the area and turn the city into a pedestrian tourist and heritage hub.
