Regarding cooperation in the military and security fields, President Sisi said it was confirmed during the discussions with the Somali president the full commitment to continuing coordination under the framework of the military cooperation protocol signed between the two countries in August 2024.

This protocol aims to support the capabilities of Somali personnel, strengthen the role of national institutions in maintaining security and stability and combat terrorist and extremist groups, he also said.

President Sisi added in remarks at the joint press conference with the Somali leader that the talks also tackled Egypt’s military and police participation in the new African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM), which supports national efforts to establish security.

In this context, both sides agreed on the importance of coordinating with international partners, emphasizing the international community's responsibility in maintaining international peace and security.

He praised efforts exerted by President Mohamud to foster national alignment among the different components of Somali society in facing the urgent challenges confronting the country.

President Sisi reiterated Egypt’s full support for all efforts aimed at achieving national consensus on political files in Somalia, as a means to bolster security and establish the foundations of stability and sustainable development in the country.

In conclusion, President Sisi said "Over the past months, we have taken serious and clear steps together toward strengthening our bilateral relations and deepening coordination across various fields. Today, we must continue this path and broaden the scope of our cooperation to match the ambitions and aspirations of our two brotherly peoples." (MENA)
