SEVILLE, July 1 (MENA) - Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli called on the international community to provide necessary support to Egypt given the burdens it bears in light of current economic challenges resulting from regional and international crises.
His statements came during a meeting Tuesday with Amy Pope, Director General of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), on the sidelines of his participation - on behalf of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi in the Fourth United Nations (UN) International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4).
The Egyptian prime minister voiced appreciation for being received by the IOM Director General and praised ongoing cooperation and coordination between Egypt and the Organization.
Madbouli stressed Egypt’s commitment to emphasizing the importance of achieving security and stability in the region, in view of the burdens faced by people as a result of instability and the waves of migration and displacement. He also noted Egypt’s keenness on providing various services to guests residing in the country - a practice that has been commended by international organizations.
For her part, Pope praised cooperation between Egypt and the IOM, affirmed the organization’s support for Egypt and highlighted the importance of continuing this partnership.
Madbouli highlighted Egypt’s efforts, in cooperation with European countries, to regulate legal migration and seasonal labor, noting Egypt’s large number of skilled workers across all fields.
At the end of the meeting, the prime minister voiced preparedness to explore any ideas for further cooperation with the IOM. (MENA)
