CAIRO, June 29 (MENA) - Egypt’s Ambassador in Vienna Mohamed Nasr has invited Egyptians abroad to take part in upcoming electoral processes, viewing such participation as a tangible expression of national belonging and commitment to preserving the Egyptian identity.
He also emphasized the importance of their involvement in the upcoming Conference for Egyptians Abroad, set to be held in Cairo in August.
This came during his participation in the Conference of the Union of Egyptian Entities in European Countries, held under the theme Our Youth Are the Future, according to a press release on Sunday.
The ambassador underscored the significance of the conference as a bridge connecting Egyptians abroad with their homeland and as a symbol of solidarity among Egyptian communities across Europe.
He highlighted the vital role of the Egyptian diaspora in portraying a positive image of Egypt, as they serve as ambassadors for their country and are considered a natural extension of the nation and a key pillar of Egypt’s soft power.
He also pointed to the regular and effective communication between Egyptian diplomatic missions and citizens abroad, aimed at providing them with all forms of support and care.
He said this participation is a top priority for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates.
This governmental commitment is reflected in initiatives such as the resolution of problems related to military service status, the provision of housing units through the Your Home in Egypt project, and conferences designed to promote the Egyptian diaspora’s engagement in national sustainable development efforts.
He also noted the government’s efforts to modernize and digitize consular services.
He stressed that caring for the second and third generations of Egyptians abroad is not only a duty and responsibility but also a right for these generations.
He reviewed several initiatives aimed at strengthening their national identity and connection to their homeland, including the “Speak Arabic” campaign.
The event featured an extensive discussion on the role of the Union of Egyptian Entities in Europe, the services it offers, proposals to improve consular services, and ways to enhance the Union’s role in connecting Egyptians abroad with Egypt—particularly by engaging youth and second- and third-generation expatriates in national development efforts.
