SOFIA, June 15 (MENA) - Bulgarian Minister of Agriculture and Food Georgi Tahov participates in an informal meeting of the ministers of agriculture and fisheries of the European Union, which takes place from June 15 to 17 in Warsaw, the agriculture ministry said on Sunday.

The working session focuses on generational renewal as a basis for innovation and modernization in agriculture, according to the Bulgarian News Agency.

The session looks at opportunities to attract and retain young people in rural areas and to encourage their active involvement in the agricultural sector. Ministers are expected to discuss best practices, financial instruments and targeted policies to facilitate young people's access to resources, education, and support to start their businesses in the agricultural sector.

At its meeting earlier this week, the Council of Ministers approved Bulgaria's position for the informal meeting in Warsaw.

According to Bulgaria, to renew the workforce in European agriculture, targeted support and innovative approaches are needed to facilitate the entry of young people into the sector and ensure continuity between generations.

Bulgaria calls for facilitated access to finance and to new markets, as well as the promotion of cooperation between farmers, the scientific community and business. (MENA)
