CAIRO, June 13 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty expressed Cairo's aspiration to elevate its relations with Berlin to the level of a strategic partnership.
Speaking at a joint press conference on Friday with his German counterpart Johann Wadephul, who is currently visiting Cairo, Abdelatty described Egypt-Germany relations as exemplary and of great significance.
He highlighted the recent phone call between President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz as a reflection of the deeply rooted and strategic nature of bilateral relations, voicing hope that the two countries would soon advance their ties to a strategic partnership. This, he said, would reflect the ongoing cooperation, coordination, and consultation between the two friendly nations.
Abdelatty added that Wadephul's visit to Cairo, the first stop in his regional tour, underscores the strength of bilateral relations, which have witnessed notable growth in recent years across various sectors.
He noted that his discussions with Wadephul covered ways to further enhance bilateral ties, with an in-depth focus on trade, economic, and investment cooperation.
The minister reaffirmed Egypt’s appreciation for its economic partnership with Germany and praised the important role German companies are playing in modernizing the Egyptian economy and supporting major development programs under the leadership of President Sisi. (MORE)
