CAIRO, June 4 (MENA) - Labor Minister Mohamed Gobran had talks on Wednesday at the International Labor Organization (ILO) HQ in Geneva with Corinne Vargha, Director of the ILO's International Labor Standards Department and Karen Curtis, Chief of the ILO Freedom of Association Branch on ways of enhancing cooperation and coordination on all joint files.
The minister asserted Egypt’s commitment to international labor standards, highlighting the directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi in this regard.
Gobran said the new labor law consolidates the culture of trade union rights and freedoms.
For their part, the director of the ILO's International Labor Standards Department and the chief of the ILO Freedom of Association Branch commended Egypt’s efforts in labor issues, being on the right track to enhance compliance with international labor standards and respect for workers’ rights.
All drives came within the framework of fruitful cooperation between Egypt and the organization, they said, noting that the ILO is keen on providing all forms of support and cooperation in the executive decisions related to the labor law.
The minister highlighted Egypt's firm belief in the importance of enhancing the culture of social dialogue in the labor domain, referring to measures taken to promote compliance with the international labor standards. (MENA)
