ABUJA, June 3 (MENA) - The Gates Foundation has agreed to support Nigeria's Federal Government with $7.5 million for a new initiative called the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Scaling Hub.
This would accelerate the development and scale-up AI-driven solutions to improve lives and expand opportunities across key sectors such as health, agriculture, and education, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported on Tuesday.
This was announced by Isime Esene, Special Adviser of Media and Communications at the Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy.
Esene noted that the step was revealed during the signing of a relevant memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the ministry and the foundation.
Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy Bosun Tijani said Nigeria’s AI Scaling Hub is a multi-stakeholder initiative that would coordinate the scaling of mature AI solutions in the country, Esene said.
“The hub will convene government agencies, private sector tech companies, academia, and development partners to support large-scale implementation of mature AI innovations,” he noted. (MENA)
