NOUAKCHOTT, May 27 (MENA) - Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates Badr Abdelatty said he is looking forward to strengthening ties with Mauritania in various domains, especially economic and trade ones.
He made the remarks during a meeting here Tuesday with Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad Salem Ould Merzoug.
He lauded cooperation and coordination between both countries, voicing appreciation for Mauritania's support for Egyptian candidates at regional and international forums, especially Dr Khaled El Anani, Egypt’s nominee for the top UNESCO post.
He voiced hope that the economic forum between the two countries would give momentum to economic cooperation, highlighting the potentials and experience of Egyptian companies across numerous sectors.
He said Egypt is open up for cooperation with Mauritania in various domains to realize a quantum leap in economic relations.
The two ministers reviewed the latest regional developments, especially the situation in the Gaza Strip and ongoing Egyptian efforts to restore the ceasefire deal, ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid into the enclave and stress full rejection of forced displacement of the Palestinians.
The two sides also tackled the situation in Libya, Sudan and the Sahel region as well as means of combating terrorism in light of the various challenges facing the African continent.
They underlined the importance of intensifying joint efforts to reach political and peaceful solutions to these crises. (MENA)
