CAIRO, May 21 (MENA) - President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and his Senegalese counterpart Bassirou Diomaye Faye had a phone call on Wednesday, during which they affirmed their joint keenness to build on the growing ties between both countries, and maintain joint consultation and coordination on positions regarding African peace and security issues.

The two leaders also stressed their commitment to create new momentum in bilateral relations, especially at the economic, trade, and investment levels, to develop continental integration efforts.

During the call, initiated by the Senegalese president, the two sides discussed a raft of issues, including cooperation for combating terrorism and extremist ideologies, and promoting security and stability in the Sahel region, according to Presidential Spokesman Mohamed el Shennawy.

Reviewing the latest developments in the Sahel countries and Sudan, the two leaders emphasized the importance of preserving the unity and stability of African countries, as well as the security of African peoples.

The Senegalese president was briefed on President Sisi's vision on the developments in the occupied Palestinian territories, and Cairo's efforts to restore stability in the Middle East, the spokesman noted. (MENA)
