President Sisi stated that his meeting with Aoun was an ideal opportunity for exchanging views on means of cementing bilateral cooperation in the economic and trade areas.

He noted Aoun's visit comes amid extremely complex regional circumstances, emphasizes the depth and strength of Egyptian-Lebanese relations at all levels and reflects the closeness of relations between the two peoples and governments.

President Sisi stressed Egypt's firm stance on bringing about internal stability in Lebanon and preserving its sovereignty, while expressing total rejection of repeated Israeli violations against Lebanese territories.

President Sisi also affirmed Egypt's keenness to support Lebanon's reconstruction efforts.

He noted that his talks with the Lebanese president covered pressing regional issues, notably the situation in Syria, where they reiterated their full backing of the Syrian people and urged for a comprehensive and inclusive political process during the transitional period in the country, while pressing ahead with efforts to combat terrorism.

The two leaders also expressed their condemnation of repeated Israeli attacks on Syria, calling on Israel to withdraw from the occupied Syrian territories and respect the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
