RIYADH, May 13 (MENA) - Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz received US President Donald Trump at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh on Tuesday at the onset of his visit to Saudi Arabia as part of a regional tour that also includes the UAE and Qatar.
The meeting was attended by senior Saudi officials, ministers and members of the delegation accompanying the US president on his official visit - the first since the start of his second presidential term.
Trump shook hands with senior Saudi officials and the Saudi Crown Prince also shook hands with members of Trump's delegation.
An official reception ceremony was held for the US President, who arrived at Al-Yamamah Palace in the capital, Riyadh, in a car accompanied by the Saudi Crown Prince.
Purebred Arabian horses accompanied the car to the main gate of the palace and the US and Saudi national anthems were played.
Trump is scheduled to participate in the 5th Gulf-US Summit, hosted by Riyadh with the participation of leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
The summit will address regional security issues and joint economic and defense cooperation.
The US president's tour also includes visits to Wednesday and the UAE Thursday, as part of a Gulf tour aimed at strengthening economic and political alliances in the region.
Trump is accompanied on his visit by a high-level delegation of senior US officials and business leaders, including Tesla CEO and advisor Elon Musk, a move that reflects the US administration's interest in investment and technology cooperation opportunities with Gulf states. (MENA)
