PORT SAID, Egypt, May 10 (MENA) - Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli on Saturday inaugurated the liquid bulk terminal operated by the New Horizon Tank Terminal at the West Port Said Port, during an inspection tour of several projects in the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone).

Chairman of the SCZone Walid Gamal El Din described the terminal as a significant addition to the West Port Said Port and part of the authority’s strategy to diversify services and enhance value-added operations at its ports.

He added that the new facility strengthens the port’s capacity to serve petroleum and chemical sectors, boosting its regional and international competitiveness.

Gamal El Din noted that the project paves the way for new investments in industries related to liquid storage, transport, and handling, and is expected to play an active role in global supply chains.

He emphasized that the terminal reflects successful integration between private investment and government infrastructure development.

Chairman of Life Chemicals Group, the Egyptian partner in the New Horizon Tank Terminal project, Maged Shafik explained that the terminal spans 15,657 square meters and includes 27 tanks with a total storage capacity of 51,183 cubic meters, at an investment cost of EGP 1.6 billion.

The terminal is designed to receive liquid bulk vessels with capacities exceeding 20,000 tons, with an annual handling capacity of 310,000 tons.

Shafik added that the facility adheres to international occupational safety and health standards, with dedicated training programs for its workforce. (MENA)
