PORT SAID, Egypt, May 10 (MENA) - Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli affirmed that the development of ports and industrial zones is a fundamental pillar in realizing the vision of optimizing the strategic location of the Suez Canal Economic Zone.
This development enhances the integration of its infrastructure, which plays a pivotal role in boosting the competitiveness of the national economy, attracting more foreign direct investment, creating sustainable job opportunities and improving the efficiency of supply and logistics chains.
Madbouli made the remarks on Saturday at the beginning of his visit to the Suez Canal Economic Zone to inspect and inaugurate several projects in East and West Port Said.
He was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel el Wazir, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Sherif Farouk, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority Osama Rabie, Chairman of the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone Walid Gamal el Din, Deputy Governor of Port Said Amr Osman, Head of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority General Ahmed el Azzazi and a number of officials.
Madbouli pointed out that this visit comes in implementation of the directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to make optimal use of the strategic location of the Suez Canal Economic Zone and enhance the integration of its infrastructure in support of the state's efforts to transform it into a global hub for trade, industry and logistics services.
For his part, Gamal el Din stated that today's visit begins at the integrated East Port Said zone, which serves as a leading model for economic development in Egypt. It brings together a comprehensive system of logistics services, advanced industries and smart infrastructure.
The visit also includes inspecting and inaugurating development works at the East and West Port Said ports, positioning them as key destinations for international investors thanks to their strategic locations and advanced networks that directly connect the ports to industrial zones.
He added that the authority is working to enhance integration among various development axes to support Egypt’s plans to become a regional and global center for industry, trade, and services. (MENA)
