CAIRO, May 8 (MENA) - Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli asserted the state is keen on implementing directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi regarding the development of the country’s archaeological sites, especially those of cultural and spiritual significance.

The premier's remarks came while inspecting a number of development and service projects in Gharbia governorate, northern Egypt, on Thursday.

Madbouli inspected development and
maintenance works in the El Sayed El Badawy Mosque in Tanta city and its surrounding area.

The landmark mosque is recognized for its revered status and its renovation efforts are part of the state’s plan to restore the historical mosques nationwide.

During the tour, Madbouli talked with some citizens in the vicinity of the mosque about the development project. They were pleased with the visit of the premier and underscored the importance of the project which will turn the area into an integrated tourist and cultural destination.

Madbouli was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development and Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Local Development Manal Awad and Gharbia Governor Ashraf el Gendi.

Gendi asserted that the prime minister's visit to the site is reflecting the greater interest the state is giving to the preservation of religious and historical sites.

Renovations at the mosque are carried out under the supervision of the Awqaf Ministry.

Madbouli inspected the archaeological possessions in the mosque including manuscripts which document the history of the place.
