ATHENS, May 7 (MENA) – President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met in Athens with Dimitrios Copelouzos, head of the Greek Copelouzos Group, to review progress on the Egypt-Greece electricity interconnection project.

During the talks, Sisi confirmed Egypt’s interest in expanding electricity production from renewable sources and transferring power to Europe through Greece.

He also said that the project is a strategic priority and has full support from both governments, especially after being listed as a project of mutual interest by the EU.

The two sides discussed the use of Egypt’s upgraded power infrastructure and natural conditions suitable for solar and wind energy, aiming to position Egypt as a regional energy hub, Presidential Spokesman Mohamed el Shennawi said. (MENA)
