CAIRO, May 2 (MENA) - Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi discussed with President and CEO
of the Korea Petroleum Corporation (KPC) Dong Sub Kim and his accompanying delegation investment opportunities in the Egyptian petroleum sector and potential areas of cooperation, given the Korean company's desire to deepen cooperation with Egypt in the oil and gas sector.

The Korean delegation included President of Dana Petroleum Jongweon-Choi and Dana Petroleum Company Manager & Managing Director George Kozma.

In a statement issued Friday, the ministry
said the meeting tackled ways
to up Korean companies' investments in Egypt, especially in light of new investment opportunities in the oil exploration and production activities domain.

The statement pointed out to Korean companies' interest in strengthening their investment portfolio in Egypt, including the
four areas in the Gulf of Suez and the Western Desert, in which they invest through Dana Petroleum Company and Petro Nefertiti Company.

During the meeting, the minister of petroleum welcomed the Korean corporation's desire to explore investment opportunities in Egypt's petroleum sector, stressing that the sector has capabilities and competencies to implement major projects at world-class levels, the statement added.

For his part, the head of the KPC
said the distinguished partnership between the two countries opens up broad horizons for fruitful cooperation between the two sides, referring to his country's vision foreseeing Egypt as a strong future launching base for Korean corporation's operations in the region, it read.

The meeting also tackled the possibility of exchanging expertise between the two sides and providing training programs from the Korean side for petroleum sector staffers in the various fields, according to the statement.
